In Zorn's score for ZIPHIM, he defines it as "The Pledge," which is not accurate. For one thing, that "im" suffix makes the word plural, so at best it's "Pledges."
In the Tanakh, the word "ziphim" is translated in as "Ziphites" - the people of Ziph, an area to the south of Hebron in the present-day West Bank of Palestine. It was here according to 1 Samuel 23 that David hid from Saul in the cave.
