DAMAM in Hebrew ("דמם") means "hum" or "buzz" or "hiss." The sound of ambient sound. Kind of a "sound of silence" in a literal sense.
In this tune we pay homage to the great composers of British spy movies - Henry Mancini, John Barry, Monty Norman, et al. The intro and outro were composed and arranged for this recording by The Guitarist Harvey Gold.
Also featured on this recording is the legendary Terry Hynde of 15-60-75 (aka The Numbers Band).
The composition is our second venture into Zorn’s third book of Masada tunes, The Book Beri’ah. The official recording is by London-based big band The Spike Orchestra (directed by Sam Eastmond) from their album BINAH. Which features a kickass tuba solo.
